چکیده

In order to realize their full potential, multimodal systems need to support not just synchronized integration of multiple input modalities, but also a consistent easy-of-using interface to isolate integration strategies from application ad hoc manner. As the range of multi-modal utterances supported is extended, type of input modalities are increasing, utterances being supported from individual modalities are turning to more complicated, it becomes essential to provide a well-understood and generally applicable common meaning representation for multi-modal utterances. This paper presents a fully formalized declarative statement of multi-modal grammar, the expression we use for the grammar representation draws on unification-based approaches to syntax and semantics, such as head-driven phrase structure grammar (HPSG)[1]. The works presented here show that our approach supports parsing and interpretation of natural human input distributed across the spatial, temporal, and acoustic dimensions. Integration strategies are stated in a high level HPSG based representation supporting rapid prototyping and iterative development of multi-

Capacitated Single Allocation P-Hub Covering Problem in Multi-modal Network Using Tabu Search

The goals of hub location problems are finding the location of hub facilities and determining the allocation of non-hub nodes to these located hubs. In this work, we discuss the multi-modal single allocation capacitated p-hub covering problem over fully interconnected hub networks. Therefore, we provide a formulation to this end. The purpose of our model is to find the location of hubs and the ...

Information States in a Multi - modal DialogueSystem for Human - Robot

We discuss the dialogue modelling techniques in the ongoing development of a dialogue system for multi-modal conversations with autonomous mobile robots. The dialogue system is implemented using Nuance, Gemini, and Festival language technologies under the Open Agent Architecture. This paper focusses on our general-purpose dialogue manager which implements a dynamic information state model of di...

Damage detection of multi-girder bridge superstructure based on the modal strain approaches

The research described in this paper focuses on the application of modal strain techniques on a multi-girder bridge superstructure with the objectives of identifying the presence of damage and detecting false damage diagnosis for such structures. The case study is a one-third scale model of a slab-on-girder composite bridge superstructure, comprised of a steel-free concrete deck with FRP rebars...

Experimental and finite-element free vibration analysis and artificial neural network based on multi-crack diagnosis of non-uniform cross-section beam

Crack identification is a very important issue in mechanical systems, because it is a damage that if develops may cause catastrophic failure. In the first part of this research, modal analysis of a multi-cracked variable cross-section beam is done using finite element method. Then, the obtained results are validated usingthe results of experimental modal analysis tests. In the next part, a nove...

A Model for Multi-modal Dialogue System Output Applied to an Animated Talking Head

We present a formalism for specifying verbal and non-verbal output from a multi-modal dialogue system. The output specification is XML-based and provides information about communicative functions of the output, without detailing the realisation of these functions. The aim is to let dialogue systems generate the same output for a wide variety of output devices and modalities. The formalism was d...
